Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology has enabled a new generation of miniaturized, low-cost, low-power inertial sensors for use in the consumer market. Applications ranging from cell phones to hard drives, cameras to computer game controllers, model helicopters to pedometers now regularly use MEMS gyros and accelerometers in a variety of performance-enhancing ways. One-axis motion simulators and centrifuges have typically been used to date, but the advent of multi-axis inertial MEMS sensors packaged in one chip now calls for two- and three-axis Inertial Guidance Test Systems (IGTS).
